surnames, a few of which are shown below.
The following table has been created from information extracted from
www.macdonald50.freeserve.co.uk which shows the Powditch surname appearing as a
'second-name' of Lt. Col. Angus Powditch MacDonald, (Generation Number 12 of the
below-mentioned family).
Lt. Col. Angus Powditch MacDonald had two sons, Ranald Gedye MacDonald and
Douglas Banfield MacDonald, who were born around the 1920s.
Having been contacted in February 2005 by Murray Macdonald, one of the sons of Ranald Gedye MacDonald, I now know that Ranald Gedye MacDonald is living in Knysna, South Africa, where he has a renowned Guesthouse.
As at December 2005, apart from Murray having advised me that he had asked his father, and that
he had said " that the name Powditch came from his grandmother (mother of Angus Powditch MacDonald), [who was] married to Lt Col Reginald Percy Macdonald (1856-1917)", I have yet to discover the exact reason for the middle-name of Powditch having been included, nor the name of the 'grandmother', although I am hoping to learn more very soon.
I am also still searching for Douglas Banfield MacDonald who apparently had, some years ago, been a Missionary in Zaire.
