Because I may not have worded previous details in my e-Newsletters clearly enough,
the "Friends of  Morston Church" have suggested that I clarify the position
re the 2004 Powditch Get-Together.

Hopefully the following may be 'clearer'

When the "Friends of Morston Church" originally contacted me, they had proposed that they would like to hold a special Thanksgiving Service at Morston Church, for the Powditch family (who from at least the mid-16th century to the mid-1700s, had lived in and around their Village).
One of the reasons for the Special Service was for the purpose of recognising the important contribution that Powditch families had made during that period, to both the Village and the Church.
The other main reason was because the "Friends of Morston Church" needed, and need to, raise money for the upkeep of the Church, especially for repairing the roof, which has been leaking, and which, if not repaired, poses a 'threat' of damp affecting the interior of the Church, including the Powditch memorials, the15th century painted wooden screen, and other internal treasures.
The "Friends of Morston Church", want to present a framed vellum calligraphic 'Memorial' to the Powditch family of Morston, together with a framed family Pedigree showing the spread of the Powditch family from the 1500s up to the  present day.

Further to the above, I would also wish to say that although the "Friends of Morston Church"  have been actively involved with the intitial arrangements for the 2004 Powditch Get-Together, and that although they will also be organising everything relating to 'their end' of the day (i.e. Calligraphist, framing, Church service, dignitaries attending,  TV/Radio and Newspapers' coverage of the event,  'entertainment', buffet and drinks etc), including their 'presenting' the framed 'Memorial' to the Powditch family, the "Friends" will not be directly paying for the latter.

The said 'Memorial' and Family Pedigree will be paid for through donations by the family and other interested relations, friends,  etc, for the urgent repairs to, and upkeep of, the All Saints Church, Morston.

As I had intitially been advised that the anticipated cost
for the framed A4 Memorial and the 2 x A3 framed Family Trees of the Powditch family
would be in the region of some £350 (A$830;  NZ$950; US$610; Can$810; ChileanPeso370,119),
I (have) offered to 'loan' that amount to the "Friends"
in order for the Memorial and Trees to be made as soon as possible.

I hope that the above makes the situation clearer, and I look forward to seeing you in September 2004
