at Morston Church, Norfolk, UK
(with apologies to the original author of Remember, remember, the 5th of November etc,
and apologies also for the lack of rhyming of the last line!)

Hi there, and welcome to the November 2003 e-Newsletter.

Please forgive me for this month's e-Newsletter being much shorter than usual, but instead, please watch out for an envelope dropping through your letterbox in December, for the annual Powditch Christmas card and Newsletter, together with lots of info' re the * FIRST EVER * POWDITCH GATHERING, which is being held from Friday 17 September to Sunday 19 September 2004 at Morston, Norfolk, UK. will be on its way to you soon!   Also, if you know of any other family members who would like to have a copy of my Powditch Christmas card, etc, I'd be
grateful for their addresses.

Lots of planned events over a 3-day period have been organised and details, together with a programme of events - including a Registration Form etc have been included with the annual
Powditch Christmas card and Newsletter. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't realised how much work
would be involved in getting the 2004 event 'off the ground' so that everything will go smoothly next
year. I've discovered over the past months, that such an event takes a lot of organisation, so I am
exceedingly grateful to Joc Wingfield of Morston, for Coordinating everything in and around that
Village, and for arranging visits, trips, and a very special Church Service (at which the Powditch
Memorial will be unveiled and dedicated) etc (all will be revealed in the info' on its way to you).

I must apologise to Julie Perry's Message Board enquiry regarding Wells Powditch and his association with Guernsey and Lighthouses. I had promised to forward information to her ASAP (Details re Wells and his family are in my Peerless Powditch's; Volume 3, 'Norfolk Vacated'
(1989) book, some chapters of which are on the web-site, but have failed to do so. Apologies Julie,
but I will send the details soon.

Further to my 'plea' last month regarding a new e-mail address for Natalie Vicary I had an e-mail
from Natalie during November, and all is well with her (thank goodness). It appears that the message
I had received from the qmail-send program at warrior.services.quay.plus.net. saying that it "wasn't
able to deliver my message to the address", and that "This is a permanent error; I've given
up. Sorry it didn't work out", also that "65.54.253.99 does not like recipient. Remote host
said: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable. Giving up on 65.54.253.99",
wasn't technically correct. Anyway, at least I've found Natalie once again, so welcome back.

Visitor numbers are up again and the figure - for the month of November - now stands at 3700 (an increase of nearly 700 on the month). I must admit that I've been really thrilled with the number of visitors to the web-site (over 37,500 since January 2003), especially because having looked
sites of all sizes over the last couple of months, apart from large Commercial sites, most that are
smaller don't appear to be getting as high a volume as mine! Well, we always knew that the
Powditch Family was very interesting, didn't we? and the visitor numbers certainly reflect that.

Unfortunately, Due to my sorting out the 2003 Christmas card and Newsletter, plus the other
information on its way to you, I haven't been able to re-design and/or 'Change' or add NEW items
to the web-site over the past month, but I do hope to add/amend etc more information in December
and January.

As you will be aware, the September and October e-newsletters included an on-line Questionnaire regarding the inclusion (or not) of (your) e-mail address(es) on the Powditch web-site. To the question of Are you in favour of having your e-mail address included on a 'special page' on the Powditch web-site? I have to date only received 6 replies, 4 of which were in favour, and 6 of which were not in favour, which means that as I pledged to abide by the majority, e-mails will not
be included on a special page on the site.

I would however state that for those who have requested that I do include their e-mail addresses, I
will add those details to an existing page on the site, and I will let you know once I have updated same.
If anyone still wants to reply to the question, I would still welcome your views on the "to include or not
to include" subject, and ask you to send an e-mail to webmaster@powditch.plus.com  with your
views and comments - (or you can click on enewsletter_september_2003 and answer the on-line
questionnaire on that page)

Thanks, and all the best for now,
John
P.S. There will be an e-Newsletter in December, and I hope to send it out earlier, hopefully
somewhere around the 20th.

P.P.S. Although the e-Newsletter is a totally free update regarding 'happenings/changes' to the web-site, if there should be any particular reason you do not wish to continue receiving a copy of it,
perhaps you could e-mail me and let me know? I'd also be most grateful for any details you
may know about re births, marriages, deaths, illnesses, change of addresses,
achievements, discovery of family papers/documents on or about the Powditch family etc,
or anything else. Also, if you know of any family members who are now 'on-line' and who
have an e-mail address, I'd be grateful for their details.

Please remember
Items updated on the web-site are highlighted with ! !
whilst any New items are highlighted by the letters, NEW .
but these 'messages' only appear on the Home page of the web-site, at
