Powditch Newsletter - March 2004
No. 11
You are here:  home  >  News  >  eNewsletter for March 2004
Hi there, and welcome to the March eNewsletter, which is shorter-than-usual this issue !

Over the past month, I have been working hard to get the whole of Volume 3 of "Peerless Powditch's"
onto the website. Until earlier today (31 March), only the first 3 Chapters had been included, but since
about mid-February, I have been scanning in the rest of the Chapters, plus other associated pages,
from the original volume.

As promised in my February eNewsletter, everything from my book, "Peerless Powditch's Vol.3
Norfolk Vacated" has now been uploaded (today, Wednesday 31 March 2004) to the Powditch
website, and is either available from the site's homepage (at www.powditch.plus.com/ ) or from
www.powditch.plus.com/PeerlessPowditch/index.htm - although I do have to advise that for the moment, I haven't included the illustrations and photographs that were in the original - but they will be
added as soon as I can do so).

As it stands, the Volume is virtually the same (i.e. not updated) as the original 1989 first edition, but
over the coming weeks/months, I will be adding clickable "links" to updated information / details which
I hope you will find useful (I'll let you know about the amendments in my next eNewsletter). Should
you have any information which would update, amend (or supercede) the information in "Peerless
Powditch's, Vol. 3", I would be more than happy to hear from you, and I will amend the details
accordingly.

The preparations for the September Powditch Gathering at Morston are gathering pace, and at
the moment, we are (from the beginning of April) on a "5½ months to countdown" situation. Whilst I
do want to thank all those who have already returned their Registration forms (and deposits) etc, I
do want to remind everyone else that it's not too late to tell me whether you are coming (or
not) to the Gathering.

Several family members had said both before and after receiving the details, that they either were
definitely coming, or were intending to attend, but as I haven't heard anything further, and as
sometime within the next couple of months I will have to 'firm up' the numbers attending (to the
Coach Company, the Restaurant and to the owners of Creake Abbey Farm), I'd be very grateful to
know what your intendions are.

If you haven't yet filled in your Registration Form for the POWDITCH GATHERING, could you
possibly let me know as soon as possible whether you will be able to attend. Also, if you are
coming, please can you let me know whether you'll be able to be there for the full three days (i.e.
from 17 to 19 September 2004) or whether you'll only be able to get there for certain days?

Incidentally, the pages relating to the * FIRST EVER * POWDITCH GATHERING, which are
available from the main Powditch webpage at www.powditch.plus.com/ , have moved (see below).

Items updated, amended and added during March, are as follows;-
Updated and Amended. Various birthdays and anniversaries.
Amended. The details re the 2004 Gathering at Morston, together with the Registration Form, background details, Itinerary , Appeal and Appeal Letter, which were previously accessible from within the big yellow box underneath the 'Search this Site' section, have now been moved, inasmuch as the big yellow box is now at the top of the main home page, and viewable to everyone before scrolling down the page.
Technically not an update, amendment or addition, but a bit of useful (?) information. Although I have always shown the home page of the Powditch website to be at www.powditch.plus.com I have noted from the web-stats I receive every day, that the next most used access to the site is via www.powditch.plus.com/ (i.e. the same 'address' but with a 'forward slash' after the .com) When you have a chance, I'd be most interested to find out which 'address' you use to access the Powditch website.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome Marilyn Stephens (New South Wales), David Case (UK), and
Enid Woodward (UK), (together with their families) to my monthly Powditch e-Newsletters, and I
hope that you will enjoy the information which appears in each issue.

Well, I think that that's about it for this month, but I do hope that you and your family are all keeping
well.

If you are still thinking about the First ever Powditch Family Gathering at Morston (17 to 19
September 2004), I do hope that you will decide to come, especially as there's so much 'on offer',
and family members to meet.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

John
P.P.S. Although the e-Newsletter is a totally free update regarding 'happenings/changes' to the web-
site, if there should be any particular reason you do not wish to continue receiving a copy of it, perhaps
you could e-mail me and let me know? I'd also be most grateful for any details you may know
about re births, marriages, deaths, illnesses, change of addresses, achievements, discovery
of family papers/documents on or about the Powditch family etc, or anything else. Also, if you
know of any family members who are now 'on-line' and who have an e-mail address, I'd be
grateful for their details.
