Powditch Newsletter - June 2004
No. 14
You are here:  home  >  News  >  eNewsletter for June 2004
Although I had promised that this month's edition of the eNewsletter was going to be sent out early,
as we were going to have a short break in lovely Devon, regrettably I ran out of spare time - hence this
being sent at the end of the month (as 'normal')! One bonus since last month, the phlebitis I'd been
suffering with in my right leg is a lot better, and I'm thankfully now able to walk properly.

1. The Powditch Family Gathering There's only 77 days to go until the
September Powditch Gathering at Morston, and as a reminder (before I went away),
I posted 'Looking forward to seeing you' letters to family members in the UK, Australia, Canada,
Chile and the USA. Let's ensure that it will be an event to remember. Thank you to all who have
returned, to date, their completed Registration Forms - or the "I will / I won't" 'slips' from the recent
letters.

2. 'Amended for Accessibility' pages (during June 2004) Whilst lots of pages have
been amended to date, none have actually been uploaded. Hopefully I'll be able to provide better
news by the time of the next eNewsletter.

3. Items Updated, Amended, and Added, during June, were as follows
Updated; None
Added. None

The amendments mentioned in last month's eNewsletter regarding the removal of each webpage's
'frames' of (i.e. sections to the left, right, top and bottom) has been taking far longer than expected (!)
although it is being undertaken as an on-going, daily task.

4. Welcome to new readers
It is with great pleasure that I welcome Ruben Alfredo Powditch Ramos (from Chile), Sheilah
Shearman (in the UK?), and Sandra Menzies (a Clemerson descendant from Australia) to my
monthly Powditch eNewsletters, and I hope that they will enjoy the information which appears in each
issue. Both Ruben as well as Sheilah's husband, Anthony, are descended from Robert Powditch's
marriage to Kathleen Vine. Ruben is the grandson of Errol Hirst Powditch, whilst Sheilah's husband
is the eldest son of Errol's sister, Nora Barbara Powditch.

5. An unexpected 'Problem' - continued !
You'll probably remember from May's eNewsletter, that I had downloaded new website-programming
software which had overwritten my old program. Well, although I was hoping to have better news by
now, I have been concentrating since the end of May, on amending all of the 'old' (i.e. previous)
website files - most of which (when I eventually upload them to the www) - will look totally different to
the pages you have previously viewed.

As I have had to amend coding and other items for all of the pages, I thought that it would be a good
opportunity to make the pages more user friendly, especially in view of the need (mentioned in last
month's eNewsletter re 'Accessability' issues). Anyway, I will continue to keep you updated re the
situation.

Hoping that you and your family are all keeping well, and looking forward to hearing from you.

John

P.S. Many apologies if I owe you an email reply. I am beginning to catch up with a backlog since returning home, but I do still have some to type up and send.
P.P.S. Although the e-Newsletter is a totally free update regarding 'happenings/changes' to the Powditch web-site, if there should be any particular reason you do not wish to continue receiving a
copy of it, perhaps you could e-mail me and let me know?
I'd also be most grateful for any details you may know about re births, marriages, deaths, illnesses, change of addresses, achievements, discovery of family papers/documents on or about the Powditch family etc, or anything else. Also, if you know of any family members
who are now 'on-line' and who have an e-mail address, I'd be grateful for their details.
