Powditch Newsletter - July/August 2004
No. 15/16
You are here:  home  >  News  >  eNewsletter for July/August 2004
Late again this month. Apologies!

1. The Powditch Family Gathering
As at today (19 August) there's only 41 days to go until the September Powditch Gathering at Morston. If you still haven't returned your "I will / I won't" 'slips' from
the letters I sent out in June, I'd be extremely grateful to have your replies by 1 September at the
absolute latest, as we are very near the 'magic' figure for hiring a second coach (per day), and if a
second coach is required, I'll have to book it by then, or there'll be a lot of walking! To all those who
have already returned your completed Registration Forms, I want to thank you, and to let you know
that receipts will be on their way to you early next week.

2. An unexpected 'Problem' - continued !
You'll probably remember from May and June's eNewsletters, that I had downloaded new website-
programming software which had overwritten my old web-design program.

Although I have been updating (on my computer) much of the 'old' website, I'm still quite a long way
away from uploading everything, and due to sorting out displays and other material for the Gathering,
the website in its new format won't be available until late September/early October (hopefully).
When finalised, the majority of the web-addresses will have completely changed, but hopefully will be
 much easier to access.

To give a couple of examples, whilst the www.powditch.plus.com element of the current website
will remain, the next section will determine the 'subject' of interest (e.g. /morston or /chile or /peerless-
powditchs etc), each of which will be followed by the various files within each section (and each will
have its own home or index page).  I do apologise if that all sounds confusing, but more will be
revealed once I've finished the sections and uploaded them

3. Items Updated, Amended, and Added, during July/August, were as follows
Updated. None (see above)
Amended. None (see above)
Added.   None (see above)
New.   None (see above)

4. Welcome to new readers
Both July and August's email-bag was quite full, and I am so pleased that not only are more members
of the Powditch family getting onto the internet, but that items within the website have been of such
use and interest to its visitors.

Several messages received have been from others wanting help with their own (non-Powditch)
research. Kathleen Noble from Tasmania is searching for Chilean documents relating to her
Barnes family (and she mentions a Mr Alison in Chile); Max Lamb from Melbourne is trying to track
down a Mr Britnell (a Britnell married into the Jouvelet family in the late 1800s); whilst Valerie
Jordeson is researching her Jordeson forbears (one of the family married a Powditch in c18 North
Shields). Keith Powditch from Swindon is now online and I am also most grateful for everyone who
has advised me of change of address details, etc. 'Welcome aboard' to all new readers of the
eNewsletter, and I hope that you'll find the contents of interest (please note the PPS below)

Hoping that you and your family are all keeping well, and looking forward to hearing from you.

John

P.P.S. Although the e-Newsletter is a totally free update regarding 'happenings/changes' to the Powditch web-site, if there should be any particular reason you do not wish to continue receiving a
copy of it, perhaps you could e-mail me and let me know?
I'd also be most grateful for any details you may know about re births, marriages, deaths, illnesses, change of addresses, achievements, discovery of family papers/documents on
or about the Powditch family etc, or anything else. Also, if you know of any family members
who are now 'on-line' and who have an e-mail address, I'd be grateful for their details.
