Powditch Newsletter - April 2004
No. 12
You are here:  home  >  News  >  eNewsletter for April 2004
Hi there, and welcome to the April eNewsletter, which is exceedingly short this issue !

First of all, I must really apologise for not having been able to attend to the website (apart from one item) since early April. Unfortunately, following the downloading of the latest version of an Anti-Virus program, my computer failed to function correctly, and I have spent most hours of each of the days,
and weeks since, trying to sort out the problems. Hopefully everything is back-to-normal now, although
I didn't want to send this email until I was absolutely certain.

'Normal Service' re the website will be resumed from later this week, but I hope that what has already been on the website, has managed to keep your attention in the meantime. Certainly I have noted that there's been a lot of interest in Chapters 10, 11, and 12 of Volume 3 of "Peerless Powditch's" which had been added to the site at the end of March. When I'm able to, I will add the photos and other illustrations that had been in the original book, but until then, I hope that you'll enjoy the reading.

To repeat what I asked in my March eNewsletter, should you have any information which would update, amend (or supercede) the information in "Peerless Powditch's, Vol. 3", I would be more than happy to hear from you, and I will then amend the details accordingly.

The preparations for the September Powditch Gathering at Morston are gathering pace, and at
the moment, we are (as at the beginning of May) on a "4½ months to countdown" situation. Whilst I
thank all those who have already returned their Registration forms (and deposits) etc, I do
want to remind everyone else that it's not too late to tell me whether you are coming (or not)
to the Gathering.
Several family members had said both before and after receiving the details, that they either were definitely coming, or were intending to attend, but as I haven't heard anything further, and as sometime within the next couple of months I will have to 'firm up' the numbers attending (to the Coach Company, the Restaurant and to the owners of Creake Abbey Farm), I'd be very grateful to know what your intendions are.

If you haven't yet filled in your Registration Form for the POWDITCH GATHERING, could you possibly let me know as soon as possible (either way) whether you will (or won't) be able to attend. Also, if you are coming, please can you let me know whether you'll be able to be there for the full three days (i.e. from 17 to 19 September 2004) or whether you'll only be able to get there for certain days?

Apart from a couple of birthdays, the only other Item updated, amended and added during April,
was as follows;-
Amended. Powditch's who fought in World War I. The photograph of C.Powditch's grave (kindly provided by George Powditch) had not been opening correctly. This has now been corrected, and hopefully both the photogarph and the seperate details (via 2 links) are now viewable.
Hopefully the month of May will see a lot of additions to the site !

It is with great pleasure that I welcome Paul Barlow (?UK) whose interest is in the Pordage name and Chris Gifford (UK) whose interest is in the Jones name to my monthly e-Newsletters, and I hope that
you will enjoy the information which appears in each issue.

Well, I think that that's about it for this month, but I do hope that you and your family are all keeping well.

If you are still thinking about the First ever Powditch Family Gathering at Morston (17 to 19 September 2004), I do hope that you will decide to come, especially as there's so much 'on offer',
and family members to meet.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

John

P.P.S. Although the e-Newsletter is a totally free update regarding 'happenings/changes' to the Powditch web-site, if there should be any particular reason you do not wish to continue receiving a
copy of it, perhaps you could e-mail me and let me know? I'd also be most grateful for any details
you may know about re births, marriages, deaths, illnesses, change of addresses,
achievements, discovery of family papers/documents on or about the Powditch family etc,
or anything else. Also, if you know of any family members who are now 'on-line' and who
have an e-mail address, I'd be grateful for their details.
