Commencing May the 2nd and Ending on the
1th [sic] of November same year [1821].

Powditch was the Master/Captain/Commander of the
Hull-built (1820?) ship 'Royal George'.
In 1821 when the ship was surveyed (by/for Lloyds), it was
declared to have been sC (i.e. sheathed with Copper); of
500 tons; 19 (i.e. under 12 foot draught of water when
loaded), and to have been surveyed at London and India.
Also shown was that the ship had been commissioned for
the carrying of cargo, by Soames & Co The vessel was
stated to be in 'A' (First Class) '1' (First Quality) condition
(According to the 'Underwriters' return).

"Under the Shipping Intelligence will be perceived
the annunciation of the arrival from England, on
Wednesday last [i.e. 7 November 1821], of the
merchant ship Royal George, Captain POWDITCH,
on board of which vessel has arrived His Excellency
Major General Sir THOMAS BRISBANE, K.C.B. &c.
&c. &c. with Lady BRISBANE and infant Daughter,
and Miss M'DOUGALL, Sister to Her Ladyship,
together with His EXCELLENCY's Staff.
Upon the vessel coming to an anchor in Sydney
Cove, a salute of 19 guns was fired from Dawes'
Battery; and immediately afterwards His Honor
Lieutenant Governor ERSKINE proceeded on board,
to pay his respects to HIS EXCELLENCY, and to
greet Him on his safe arrival in New South Wales. -
HIS EXCELLENCY was pleased to signify his
intention of landing on the following morning."

hereby Cautions the Inhabitants against giving Trust
or Credit to the Crew of the said Vessel, as he will not
be responsible for any Debts by them contracted".

Government House, Sydney, N.S.Wales,
My Lord,
8. I have now the honor to report to Your Lordship
the arrival here, on the 7th of the present Month, of
my Successor, Sir Thomas Brisbane, on board the
Private Merchant Ship Royal George. I was then on
my Tour of Inspection to Newcastle and Port
Macquarie, from whence I returned to the Seat of
Government on the 21st Instant.
To Morrow I deliver over charge of this Government
to Sir Thomas Brisbane..........
