I Thomas Powditch, was born in Valpso
on the 24 June 1826.
My father, John Kittridge Powditch married
my mother, Charlotte Hirst, on the 19th
of January 1814 at St James Piccadilly
London
My mother died on the 23 Sept, 1829, +
my father on the 12 January 1844.
At the death of my mother my father
was left with the following family:
1. John, born in London on 19 April 1815.
of whom we have had no tidings since he
sailed from Talcahuano for England
about the year 1835.
2. Caroline, born 1 Jany 1823. who married
Doctor John Mackay + is still in life.
3. Myself.
4. Alfred, born 3 April 1828. died at
Copiapo in 1883.
5. Charlotte, born 23 Septr 1829. died
two months after her birth.
Although very young at the time I remember
quite well the death of my mother, and how
inconsolable I was when her remains were taken
away for interment.
In 1834, about, my father left Valparaiso for
Concepcion where he rented a farm near the
